Educational research is clear: Knowing more words usually leads students to be more successful in school. But with so many words out there, how can teachers choose the right words students need to know, and the right way to teach the students these words? This course is designed to help educators apply a systematic vocabulary instruction plan that includes Word Consciousness, Individual Word Instruction, Word Learning Strategies, and Rich and Varied Language Experiences. Video and web resources will be shared, with many opportunities for participants to test take-aways immediately through classroom application across all grade bands and content areas.
